About Dawn

Dawn has been an animal lover as long as she can remember, some of her fondest childhood memories involve a mutt named Reggie. Dawn and Reggie would spend hours playing fetch, learning tricks, and romping in the local playgrounds. Some of the adventures Dawn has had with animals include but are not limited to fostering shelter dogs, assisting in early puppy training of assistance dogs (starting at 4 weeks of age), Therapy Team Handler for Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs, assistant trainer in Women’s Project Therapy Training Group (Canine social therapy, teaching basic obedience with reward based training methods to enhance the self-esteem and life skills of recovering substance abusers.), a member of The Marine Mammal Center Harbor Seal Crew, and a Canine Handler for the Student Reading with Canines Program in the Santa Rosa public school system.

Dawn is a graduate of Bergin University of Canine Studies in Rohnert Park, Ca where she studied Assistance Dog Education. 

She has the following certifications:

  • FEMA Animals in Disaster: Awareness & Preparedness
  • American Red Cross Pet First Aid
  • AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator

 In her spare time, Dawn loves to expand her knowledge of everything dog by reading books, watching webinars, and attending seminars. Dawn also enjoys photography and nature.
